I just found a neat item that would probably make a great wine gift, but if you’re in the U.S. it could be a bit of trouble to order. Dynamo House in Melbourne, Australia carries a Wine Appreciation Kit. It comes in both the Red Wine and White Wine variety.
I first saw it at Gizmag.com. A little further investigation took me to the Dynamo House website and a banner there took me to the Wine Kits website.
The Wine Appreciation Kit provides the wine drinker with everything they need to professionally evaluate wine. Through a step-by-step evaluation process, the kit helps the wine drinker begin to train their eye, nose and palate.
From the WineKits.com.au website:
THE KIT CONTAINS:
- 10 White Wine Aroma Profiles in glass bottles:
~ Grapefruit ~ Lemon ~ Lime ~ Melon ~ Apricot ~ White Peach ~ Tropical ~ Kiwi Fruit ~ Butterscotch ~ Charry/Vanillin Oak- Professional Wine Appreciation Manual includes:
~ Hosting a tasting event ~ Wine Buying Tips ~ Evaluating Appearance ~ White Wine Colour References ~ Understanding your Nose ~ Wine Faults ~ Evaluating Aroma & Bouquet ~ White Wine Varieties ~ Understanding your Palate ~ Evaluating Flavour ~ Wine Glossary- White Wine Assessment Record Book:
~ Keep a record of your wines in this professionally formatted book.- WineNoseTM Evaluation Strips:
Convenient blotting strips for accurate aroma sampling and evaluation.
Funny thing, at first look in Gizmag.com I found no price and no link to place an order. I had to go to Google, search for Dynamo House before finding an order page. The WineKits.com.au website didn’t have a price or what they call a “stockist” either. I guess a “stockist” is a retailer. Anyway, you could order it at Dynamo House, it costs about U.S. $42.00 but I’d be scared to see the shipping cost!
I’ll be talkin’ to ya later!
